About Me
Let me share a bit about my journey. I am 38 years old and have experienced many ups and downs throughout my life. Through it all, I can honestly say that God has always been by my side.
My challenges began when I was helping a friend and crashed my brand-new car. This incident set off a chain reaction of difficulties. My friend was unwilling to cover the damages, which led to financial strain and ultimately resulted in my eviction. I found myself sleeping in a rental car until I was involved in another accident.
Afterward, I was forced to sleep on the streets, including at the airport and Walmart, living in survival mode until I reached a shelter. Once there, I began searching for a job to save up for a new car. I eventually secured a position and managed to buy another car. Unfortunately, just 28 days after getting it, someone ran into the back of my car while I was working for Uber, placing me back in a tough situation.
I didn't receive the settlement for that accident until February. I got another car and resumed driving for Uber in an effort to get off the streets. However, two months later, I started feeling unwell. I pushed through for a while, but after three visits to the hospital, I finally got insurance through Obamacare. Tests revealed that I had cancer.
When the doctor delivered the news, I responded with, "Fuck cancer." The doctor later told me she had never seen anyone react so calmly upon receiving such a diagnosis. I explained to her, with all due respect, that I was homeless and just wanted to know what I needed to do. I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 33, and I was going through all of this during the pandemic with COVID-19, which added another layer of difficulty to an already challenging situation.
I went through treatments and, by God's grace, received a $2,000 blessing, which allowed me to purchase a new car—my previous one had to be returned when I fell ill. I worked hard and planned to get off the streets by January 2021, but God had a different plan for me. He guided me off the streets just six days after my birthday.
A few months later, I sought further direction and felt inspired to start drawing, which ultimately led me to launch a clothing line. Stay tuned—I will also be coming out with a book!
